Louisa’s experience of volunteering with Media Trust:
Louisa started volunteering as a Media Trust Youth Mentor in 2009 and has since worked on half a dozen projects with young people in the Midlands who were producing their own films. Four of the projects were part of Talent Studio and Louisa also spoke at a celebratory Talent Studio screening event in Birmingham in 2010.
“I got involved in Media Trust because I wanted to do something productive with my time and learn something myself in return. I had done volunteering before, but this time I wanted to get involved with something that would make the most of my specific skills.
I have worked with several very different groups of young people, but what they have all shared is an amazing energy and creativity which has impressed and inspired me. It is a great feeling to see them achieve so much more than they thought they could, and to observe how that affects their confidence and self-esteem. I have learnt a lot and had some of my own preconceptions challenged.
