Media Trust was part of a coalition of youth organisations supporting and representing young people's services at the Unite union's indoor rally on Saturday 12th February in Solihull.
ITN News presenter and Media Trust Volunteer Champion, Charlene White (pictured, on right) and TV presenter and Media Trust Youth Mentor Efe Ezekiel (pictured, on left), were secured by Media Trust to chair the event.
Former Media Trust beneficiary Sabian Muhammad spoke on stage about the cuts and their impact on young people as well as his involvement in 02's Think Big Campaign.
The campaign, Choose Youth, is seeking to arrest the decline of essential services to young people government and local authority cuts take shape.
The event involved over 1,000 young people, volunteers and professionals working with young people. They celebrated good youth work and looked at the threats and challenges to it, as well as discussing a way forward to support the campaign in the midst of cuts and closures.
Irene Reed, Director of Framework Events said, "Charlene and Efe really were two great choices and honestly helped us lift the event. Pauline Doyle, Director of Campaigns and Communications at Unite, has told me that this was the best union event she’s ever been to. They should feel proud of their part in that."
Efe Ezekiel said, "I loved every minute of it and i'm so glad that I could contribute to such an important rally."
